Celanese set to launch first phase of $2.5 billion coal-to-ethanol co-investment

In Indonesia, Celanese is set to begin later this year the first phases of its $2.5 billion joint investment in coal-to-ethanol production with state-owned oil and gas company PT Pertamina. The plant’s location is expected to be decided later this month. The ethanol production is intended to supply an E10 blend domestically to help PT Pertamina partially offset its gasoline imports.
