Mascoma’s progress: Catch a slow rabbit
In his recent address at the Digest’s Advanced Biofuels Leadership Conference in Washington, DC, Mascoma CEO Bill Brady was clear in sharing what he termed “a few thoughts and lessons we learned while growing our company” that it was essential that advanced technology companies “catch a slow rabbit and kill it” with an early-to-market product that would accelerate learning, drive innovation, and generate cash — and offered Mascoma’s yeast technology as an example.
The technology, developed out of the company suggestion box as an employee considered additinoal markets for Mascoma’s signature consolidated bioprocessing technology, would go on to win the Digest’s 2012 Yield Improvement Award.
