First biodiesel blending site opens on Vancouver Island

July 1, 2013 |

In Canada, Cowichan Valley Regional District has opened Vancouver Island’s first biodiesel blending station where consumers can choose what level of biodiesel they blend with diesel. Greacycle collects waste cooking oil from restaurants and delivers it to the CVRD Bings Creek Facility, then Cowichan Energy Alternatives turns it into biodiesel and sells it, first to the CVRD and Cowichan Valley Biodiesel Coop members, and will then be later opened to the public.
