PetroVietnam merges ethanol plant with oil refinery to boost competitiveness

In Vietnam, PetroVietnam plans to merge the country’s remaining ethanol plant with its oil refinery at Dung Quat in an attempt to reduce operating costs. The two entities are currently owned by separate subsidiaries but will be merged into one.E3 is planned for part of the country this year while E5 will be extended next year. Up until now, production has been primarily for export but prices have been lower than production costs.
