Karnataka needs funds and public support to bolster biofuels

In India, Karnataka state is having challenges ramping up its biofuel production despite being the country’s leader in setting up biofuels policies and outreach centers. Key to the challenge is getting subsidies, loans, and involvement public. Even though the state’s 50 sugar mills produce 135 million liters of ethanol annually, only about 35 million liters goes towards fuel blending while the rest is exported.
