BioFuel Energy’s subsidiaries unable to pay $17.6 million in senior debt

In Colorado, several unnamed entities are looking to purchase one or both of BioFuel Energy’s Midwest ethanol plants following following subsidiaries’ inability to pay $17.6 million in senior debt, forcing them into default. According to a SEC filing, the two ethanol plants are pledged as collateral for the loans, whose grace period expired July 30.
