500 per cent rise in use of biofuel in Ireland

In Ireland, biofuel use in 2012 was up 500% on 2007 at 128 million liters. By 2020, demand is seen at 500 million liters. Savings on imported fuel costs in 2011 reached €300 million while for 2020 those savings are seen at €2 billion. The country doesn’t have a specific blending target but does have goals based on the National Energy Efficiency Action Plan.
