Four Forest Restoration Initiative turns stewardship over to Africa

In Oman, Arizona-based Four Forest Restoration Initiative (4FRI) has turned their stewardship contract to Good Earth Power AZ, an Africa-based company. The company, focused on manage forests and preventing forest fires, plans to build its own mill and biodiesel facility to use the wood from the 300,000 acres that the project will thin. Financing for the project, said Good Earth CEO Jason Rosamond, is in place. Good Earth, who has no experience managing forests in the Southwest, expects to hire locally whenever possible.
