“Next Generation Biomass Conversion” short course upcoming at Penn State

In Pennsylvania, biofuels and bioproducts experts will be gathering in Philadelphia on November 11-12 for a “Next Generation Biomass Conversion” short course hosted by the Penn State Biomass Energy Center.

Experts in the field, including government researchers, university specialists, and industry leaders, were handpicked to provide quality instruction in this two day course that covers various aspects of biomass conversion including sessions on technology, economics, operations, and policy issues. Specific topics for the short course include Thermochemical Conversion Pathways, Alternative Products and Coproducts, Pretreatment and Saccharification, Fermentation Strategies, System Scaleup, and Technology Maturation.

An optional tour of bioenergy facilities at Renmatix, Valley Forge and USDA ARS Research Lab, Wyndmoor, is also included as a part of the course, during which attendees will be able to visit the facilities and speak with researchers and project developers. Ample networking opportunities and a business development roundtable will serve to round out the event.
