Biodiesel facility in Hong Kong set to supply Europe

October 1, 2013 |

In Hong Kong, a 100,000 metric ton per year biodiesel plant using waste and gutter oil for feedstock is set to come online in the next month. The facility, partly financed by $165 million in capital from Bahrain-based Al Salam Bank, will export most of the biodiesel to Europe. About 260,000 tons of GHG emissions will be avoided from using the fuel. Biogas will also be produced from the facility’s wastewater.
