SG Biofuels seeking $30.6 million from IDB for jatropha in Guatemala

In Guatemala, SG Biofuels has sought $30.6 million from the Inter-American Development Bank to plant jatropha on 25,000 acres of land unsuitable for food production with the aim of producing 6.2 million gallons of biodiesel annually. The $76 million project is under evaluation by the bank who may provide the financing as a loan as well as help to secure additional financing from other banks.
