Datagro says Brazil can quadruple ethanol production by 2035

October 14, 2013 |

In Brazil, Datagro says that the country can quadruple its sugarcane ethanol production by 2035 thanks to new varieties. Ethanol production should reach 20,000 liters per hectare by 2020 and 30,000 liters by 2030, up from 7,000 liters now.  The new varieties not only yield more but are drought resistant, pest and disease resistant, and are better adapted to new cane growing areas.
