Vireol may keep Appomattox Ethanol in Virginia instead of UK

October 28, 2013 |

In Virginia, a trans-Atlantic flip-flop might be in the works. UK company Vireol had bought the Appomattox Ethanol plant in Hopewell with the intention of breaking it down into parts and shipping them to England where an ethanol plant under construction in Grimsby would make good use of them. But the Grimsby project appears to be slowing down, while the company has realized it made a better deal than it thought. With the plant in prime condition, considering it’s been mothballed for years, the company is thinking it might just fire the plant back up right where it is. In Hopewell.
