Museum of Liverpool to save big on tri-generation with biodiesel CHP units

November 6, 2013 |

In the UK, the Museum of Liverpool is home to a new trigeneration, not co-generation, CHP system that includes two 385kW bio-diesel CHP units, two 768kW natural gas CHP systems, two 850kW boilers, a 1000kW absorption chiller and a 998kW conventional compression chiller. The system designed by ENER-G ran into some challenges in ensuring independence from the utlity-based power system, but they have been overcome. The system is expected to save the museum nearly $1 million annually.
