Indian coop mills looking at alternative molasses feedstock for ethanol

In India, cooperative mills in Maharashtra are looking to Brazil to provide them inspiration on how to boost their ethanol production while reducing their extensive sugar stocks. Farmers are continuing to plant more sugarcane because of the high government-dictated prices. One suggestion is to use B-heavy molasses as feedstock instead of regular molasses, which reduces sugar content by up to 2% from the sugar production process but doubles the ethanol production.
