Datagro says ethanol needs to be 40% cheaper than ethanol for major switch

November 27, 2013 |

In Brazil, Datagro says that drivers won’t switch to ethanol until it’s 40% cheaper than gasoline, rather than the 30% traditionally thought as the switchover level. Though drivers may switch back and forth when it’s 30% cheaper, being 40% cheaper will mean a significant switch over to ethanol. Only about 24% of flex-fuel cars are currently running on ethanol.
