Biofuels Digest Index hits 30-month high of 81.99 after record one-day rise

The Biofuels Digest Index, an index of publicly traded biofuels stocks, rallied a record 8.93 percent to 81.99 a 30-month high, as ethanol equities caught fire. The BDI last closed above this level (at 82.39) on August 3, 2011. For the day, Amyris (AMRS) soared 21.43 percent to $4.79, while Pacific Ethanol (PEIX) rocketed up 65.45 percent to $14.94, Biofuel Energy (BIOF) was up 83.07 percent to $3.46 and Aemetis gained 21.43 percent to $0.34. Overall, advances led declines 3 to 2 for the day.
