Brazilian ethanol production seen even or falling this year

March 25, 2014 |

In Brazil, FO Licht expects ethanol production to remain stead at 25.35 billion liters during the 2014/15 season, compared to 25.5 billion liters during the previous season. Mills are expected to continue their preference for ethanol over sugar, something which combined with a drought-impacted cane crop may help to reduce sugar production by up to 2 million metric tons. FO Licht expects the cane crop to come in at 575 million tons while Datagro expects it to be at 574.6 million tons. Datagro expects ethanol production of 23.6 million liters.
