In Jamaica, the JB Broilers ethanol plant is set to remain in maintenance mode for the foreseeable future until the price dynamics improve. Many of its clients chose not to toll Brazilian ethanol to the US through its facilities last year, instead paying penalties, but that was not enough to keep the company in profit. Brazilian hydrous ethanol remains too expensive to warrant dehydration and export into the US market but the plant remains on standby to start up production quickly if price dynamics change.
