Louisiana accepting applications for Specialty Crop Block Grant Program

In Louisiana, the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry (LDAF) has opened its 2014 Specialty Crop Block Grant Program for applications through May 5, 2014. The program expects to offer about $300,000 to fund Louisiana projects, with individual project annual budget limits set at $100,000. Projects lasting up to two years and 11 months will be considered.

The grants designated for the state are to be used for projects that solely enhance the competitiveness of Louisiana specialty crops like fruits, vegetables, tree nuts, dried fruits, horticulture, Christmas trees, turf grass/sod, nursery and greenhouse crops.
