In Maine, the state’s Finance Authority has approved a $16 million bond to start-up Thermogen for a $140 million project that will produce black wood pellet used primarily by power plants in Europe. The company, who had sought $25 million that was approved last fall when it planned to use a different technology, will now use technology from Texas-based Zilkha Biomass Energy to produce 300,000 tons of pellets annually.
