LanzaTech, Cool Planet win two 2014 Transformative Awards each as winners announced in DC

In Washington, Biofuels Digest announced that LanzaTech and Cool Plant took two awards each to lead the winners of the 2014 Transformative Technologies competition. The competition, held over the past two months, is the only set of awards entirely decided by the Digest’s online readers, who voted using social media.

The winners are:

Inorganic catalyst: Siluria Technologies
Conversion technology (gas): LanzaTech – gas fermentation
Conversion technology (liquid): Cool Planet Energy Systems
Conversion technology (solid-state or supercritical): Renmatix – Plantrose supercritical sugars

Transformative Molecule – biofuel: Butamax — isobutanol
Molecule – biobased chemical: Genomatica – BDO
Molecule – transformative biobased material: CoolPlanet Cool Terra

Plant or integrated biorefinery: LanzaTech – BaoSteel demonstration plant, Shanghai, China
Town or industrial symbiosis: Bio XCell, Nusajaya, Malaysia
State, region, or country: State of Louisiana, USA

The winners will join the Top 100 People in the Bioeconomy, and the winners of the 2013-14 Biofuels Digest Awards at a gala awards reception on Monday April 21st, 2014 at the Advanced Biofuels Leadership Conference, meeting this week in Washington DC.
