Maryland rejoices as soybean yields predicted highest in years

August 27, 2014 |

In Maryland, projected soybean yields are some of the highest in years as rainfall and moderate temperatures have allowed the crops optimal conditions. The USDA is currently forecasting a new record yield (45.2 bushels) of soybeans in 2014, exceeding the 2009 record of 44 bushels by a large margin. “Sustained demand increases are expected for soybeans for animal feed, vegetable oil, and biodiesel, with a projected growth of 60 percent by 2025,” according to WorldWatch Institute.
