BETO announces $14m FOA for landscape design incorporating cellulosic feedstock production

October 27, 2014 |

In Washington, $14 million is up for grabs thanks to a new funding opportunity for “Landscape Design for Sustainable Bioenergy Systems” from the Bioenergy Technologies Office (BETO) division of the Department of Energy’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE).

DOE stated that the FOA seeks projects that apply landscape design approaches to integrate cellulosic feedstock production into existing agricultural and forestry systems while maintaining or enhancing environmental and socio-economic sustainability including ecosystem services and food, feed, and fiber production.

This announcement is preceded by several other notable FOAs for biofuels from BETO this year, including one targeting algal biofuels and bioproducts and a $10m April offering for advanced biofuel production.
