Proposed Idaho ethanol plant to use barley and potatoes

December 2, 2014 |

In Idaho, the ethanol plant proposed in Greenleaf would use potatoes and barley as feedstock. A facility running on potatoes a few miles down the road closed in 2004, causing doubt among the local industry as to whether the new facility will work. The facility would use fractionation technology to separate the starch from the grain for ethanol production while using the rest for animal feed.
