Asian biofuel prices sink as external factors weigh

Across Asia, biodiesel and ethanol prices have fallen to historic lows, with biodiesel at its lowest since 2009 at $820.92 per ton while ethanol prices have fallen to its lowest since March 2011 with $669.46/cubic meter. The region’s ethanol prices have loosely followed US demand this year, with prices rising as import demand increases and falling as it tapers off. Biodiesel prices have basically sunk since February as palm oil prices remain low.
