Ecuadorian researchers looking at Antarctic algae as biodiesel feedstock

In Ecuador, researchers at the Central University of Ecuador are studying species of algae found in Antarctic waters with the hope of someday using them to produce biofuels to power the country’s research facility at Greenwich Antarctic Island. The researchers have determined that algae that are stressed and with limited food produce more vegetable oil for use as biofuel feedstock.
