Canadian ethanol plant shifting away from fuel towards industrial alcohol

In Canada, the 200 million liter GreenField ethanol plant in Chatham will produce up to 75% industrial alcohol by the end of the year, moving away from fuel ethanol production, because it says that’s where the market is going. It is targeting high quality pharmaceuticals markets. Currently the facility is undertaking $40 million worth of capital investments from co-gen to cellulosic ethanol R&D.
