In Egypt, Al Nouran along with a consortium of banks and investors are investing $357 million in a sugar beet factory and sugar refinery that will also include an undisclosed volume of ethanol production. The facility will produce 250,000 metric tons of sugar from beet and refine another 300,000 tons of raw sugar during the off-season. The company says the plant will come online the end of 2016.
