Poland using biodiesel as means to counteract impact from Russia import ban

March 10, 2015 |

In Poland, the government is pushing for increased biodiesel blending in an effort to offset Russia’s import ban of agricultural goods. About 70% of the country’s rapeseed crop is going towards biodiesel, which reached 7% blending in 2014. The aim is still 10% for 2020. Corn is the main feedstock for ethanol, with both biofuels receiving government support in order to stay economically viable.
