Ethanol export scandal hits scandal-scarred Mumias Sugar

In Kenya, yet another scandal is hitting Mumias Sugar where it has been uncovered that employees colluded with the Kenya Revenue Authority to “export” ethanol to Uganda and Tanzania but later divert it to the domestic market, avoiding a significant domestic levy for $2.25 per liter. Six managers were fired when the scandal was uncovered internally two months ago.
