A price premium for sustainable biofuels could boost consumption in Bulgaria

In Bulgaria, an audit of the country’s compliance with EU biofuels blending targets between 2008 and 2012 shows the consumption is not only behind schedule but is decreasing. What’s more, compliance with sustainability criteria is not being achieved, something the report says could be improved if a price premium were attached to sustainable biofuels. It urges a quick change in policy in order to achieve the 10% renewable energy in transport mandate for 2020.
