Gulf Petroleum to invest $157.3 million in ethanol outside of India’s cane regions

In India, Gulf Petroleum will invest $157.3 million in an ethanol plant in Punjab, Haryana or Madhya Pradesh, potentially using rice husk as feedstock. It wants to move ethanol production away from sugarcane and cane-producing states in an attempt to better supply the country’s ethanol blending mandate that is constantly running into trouble between sugar mills and oil marketing companies.
