Hydrous ethanol sales soar in Brazil thanks to higher fossil fuel prices

In Brazil, hydrous ethanol sales rose 41% during the first half of 2015, while gasoline with 27% blended anhydrous ethanol fell 5.8%. Diesel sales also fell 2.4%. Ethanol demand increased thanks to Petrobras boosting gasoline and diesel prices more in line with international prices while Minas Gerais introduced a beneficial tax regime for ethanol.
