Brazilian ethanol production seen hitting 27.5 billion liters in 2015/16

August 10, 2015 |

In Brazil, Archer Consulting expects ethanol production during the current 2015/16 harvest to reach about 27.5 billion liters, more than the 26.6 billion liters previously estimated, as mills continue to favor ethanol production over sugar. It has estimated that sugar production will fall to 29.8 million tons from an estimated 32.6 million tons as a result of the switch. The global sugar market continues to be weighed down by stocks, pushing prices to 6.5 year lows and in turn making ethanol more economically viable for struggling mills.
