China’s July ethanol imports triple May record

August 25, 2015 |

In July, China’s July ethanol imports tripled to a record of 69,076 cubic meters, up from the previous record of 21,155 cu m in May 2015. For the first time ever, the country imported ethanol from Brazil while undenatured ethanol imports from Pakistan made the key contribution to the over all import figure. Pakistan undenatured ethanol exports were 43,728 cu m, while Vietnam came in second with 5,019 cu m. Pakistan only began exporting to China in February with just 3,750 cu m but as prices remain uncompetitive in traditional markets such as South Korea and Europe, the country has literally become Pakistan’s savior.
