Vessels exporting Brazilian ethanol triple in August to 15

September 14, 2015 |

In Brazil, vessels export ethanol in August tripled to a whopping 15, with 11 of those vessels chartered to US destinations. The largest shipment saw 31,344 metric tons of ethanol shipped from the Port of Santos to Houston in early August. Thirteen of the 15 ethanol vessels sailed from Santos, Latin America’s largest port. Low ethanol prices due to the ongoing sugarcane crush that has focused on ethanol rather than sugar production this season, mixed with the weak Real against the Dollar have boosted ethanol exports significantly.
