Brazilian ethanol production seen hitting 44 billion liters by 2024

September 16, 2015 |

In Brazil, state-run research company EPE expects ethanol production to reach 44 billion liters by 2024, up from an estimated 29 billion liters now. Yet ethanol producers will find it difficult to invest in increased production capacity at the moment due to low sugar and ethanol prices that have left the industry crippled. Overall energy consumption from renewables is expected to remain fairly steady at 84% by that date, compared to 83.7% in 2014. In GW terms, growth will be about 62.1GW of increased production capacity.
