Stanford invests in food waste recycling for biofuels and animal feed

September 22, 2015 |

In California, Sustainable Alternative Feed Enterprises will operate a waste recycling center at Stanford University, processing all of the food waste generated on campus into biofuel ingredients as well as animal feed and water. The technology is said to cost about a third of the cost of using traditional anaerobic digester to recycle food waste. The facility can be expanded to also accommodate the food waste from the City of San Jose.
