September 28, 2015 |

In Ecuador, the city of San Jose has teamed with local used oil collection company ARC to collect UCO for biodiesel production whereby the company will pay the city in kind up to the equivalent of 10 cents per liter. Collection centers will be set up in schools and city markets. Animal fat will be allowed for deposit at the centers as well as long as they are packaged separately from the oil and in a way that water can’t get inside. Estimates show more than 46 million metric tons of oil were consumed nationally last year.
