Senate banking committee votes down RFS gutting amendment 15-7

October 5, 2015 |

In Washington, the Senate Banking Committee voted 15-7 against the amendment brought by Sens. Pat Toomey and Dianne Feinstein that would have eliminated the corn ethanol component of the RFS, but it’s not immediately clear what that means. Does the Senate support the RFS? Or was it just that the oil exports bill the amendment was attached too was just too controversial? Ethanol supports say it’s the former, opponents say it’s the latter, but all that’s clear is that the latest attempt to gut or kill the RFS has failed.
