Local minister hits back at Green Fuel for wanting more land but not investing in CSR

October 26, 2015 |

In Zimbabwe, the Provincial Affairs minister for Manicaland has told Green Fuel it will not grant the additional 250 ha of land for sugarcane expansion until the company plows investment back into the community for CSR projects. She said she would grant the company 100 ha for corn but not for cane because people cannot eat cane. She also insists on driving out racism as well as extortion. The company says it lost $10 million after the national water agency cut off supplies for two months following a disputed bill, and is currently only running at half capacity, but despite hardships is looking to develop a second ethanol plant in Middle Sabi.
