Oil industry fighting hard against NYC biodiesel bills

In New York, the oil lobby is fighting hard against two bills that would boost New York City’s use of biofuels—something the mayor is strongly supporting. At a hearing on Monday discussing that bills that would boost biodiesel use in heating oil to 5% by 2016 and 20% by 2030 while requiring school buses run on B5, the head of the New York State Petroleum Council claimed the proposed legislation would cause an increase in fuel prices as well as food prices.
