Ethanol production ramps back up to three-month high despite margins concerns

November 4, 2015 |

In Washington, the Energy Information Agency says that ethanol production rose 2.6% last week, defying concerns that low margins would see producers reduce their volumes. At an average of 969,000 barrels a day last week, it was the highest figure seen in the past three months. Last week’s crushing margins were estimated at between 10 cents and 15 cents per gallon which prompted at least one seller to offload a lot of volume onto the market, a move that will in turn hit margins this week but could be just a blip in the road.
