184 Congressmen write EPA to lower RFS blending mandate

November 6, 2015 |

In Washington, 184 Congressmen wrote a letter to EPA administrator Gina McCarthy opposing the RFS, seeking her to cut the blending mandates currently preparing for release by the end of this month. The legislators criticize the attempt to cross the 10% blend wall, saying it takes decades to get the vehicle fleet and refilling infrastructure in place to support higher blends. They believe that the volume of ethanol proposed for blending in 2016 that is already below what was mandated by Congress under the RFS2 would damage vehicles in the domestic fleet.
