Brazilian ethanol exports to Europe hit five-year high

In Brazil, ethanol exports are penetrating the European market in force for the first time since 2010 with October exports hitting 46.9 million liters. The vast majority is headed to the Netherlands, representing 33.6 million liters, while the remainder was sent to Belgium and the UK. Platts reports that the ethanol shipped to Europe was anhydrous, to could potentially be used in the fuel market to help offset current market tightness. October’s total exports were more than double that of October 2014 and nearly 50% higher than in September at 260 million liters.
