Nepali entrepreneur leading biodiesel transition by doing

November 10, 2015 |

In Nepal, a restaurateur in Kathmandu learned how to produce biodiesel from the waste cooking oil generated at his café by watching the Discovery Channel and some trial and error. He now runs his car on 20% biodiesel, partially avoiding the major fuel crisis the country is suffering from due to an Indian blockade. He has been running his vehicle on the homemade fuel with no problems for the past six years and is calling on other restaurants and hotels in the city to do the same, creating a UCO collection center together to take advantage of biodiesel on a larger scale.
