LDC to commission its giant glycerin refinery over the next few weeks

November 17, 2015 |

In Indiana, Louis Dreyfus Commodities’ giant 80 million pound per year glycerin refiner co-located at the 90 million gallon per year soybean biodiesel plant in Claypool is set to come online in the next couple of weeks, officially becoming the second largest in the country. Crude glycerin has been sold since the biodiesel plant came online in 2007 but the refinery allows it to get 100% of the value and use 100% of the byproduct. Related infrastructure for storage and rail transport have been made to support the new refined product.
