Indian sugar mills sign contracts for 1.04 billion liters of ethanol

November 24, 2015 |

In India, sugar mills have so far signed contracts with oil marketing companies to supply 1.04 billion liters of ethanol during 2015/16, compared to just 780 million liters signed for last year. To achieve the planned E10 mandate for 2016, OMCs tendered a few months ago for 2.6 billion liters. The volume contracted so far is enough to supply about a 4% blend. Policies remain a challenge for production and supply in certain states, hindering the ability to offer volumes for the mandate.
