October corn consumption for ethanol jumps to 444 million bushels

December 2, 2015 |

In Washington, the USDA says corn consumption for ethanol production rose in October to more than 444 million bushels, up from 427.5 million bushels the month before. In parallel with an increase in ethanol production, DDGS production also rose to 1.954 million tons in October, up from 1.907 million tons in September. The report shows no sorghum was used for ethanol feedstock despite expectation of some shifting production to the alternative grain as a result of lower corn use for ethanol in the November WASDE report.
